The APE 250V Rattles California

The APE model 250V (Variable Moment) vibro is a work of modern wonder with it’s 4,500 in-lbs of eccentric moment producing an abundant 250 tons of driving force. Yes, this modern wonder of excitement is a beauty to see in action. With the APE model 630 power unit (C-18 Cat, Tier 3 Certified with 630 horse power) pushing this beauty, it has a splendid action of ease and comfort. So smooth during start and stops that the crane doesn’t even know it has anything on the hook. This is all due to the APE phase shifter. The phase shifter enables you to start the vibro at full speed with no vibration at all. As you phase the vibro into action the smooth and efficient moment comes as the vibro shakes the pile in the ground. Hit the “Turbo” button this Baby shakes to a massive 2,000 vibrations per minute! Great for the difficult clay soils, the extra speed helps to penetrate the toughest ground. This machine is perfect for those sensitive driving conditions where you need to eliminate the vibrations to the surrounding area, thanks to the exciting new phase shifter. Talk about exciting, just ask my wife Kristi, who was on hand to watch this puppy in action! Even as the 250V was phased out to eliminate the shake out of the boom during stopping, My Gal was still revved up! Guys, I encourage you to take your Gal on a vibro date, it could be interesting and exciting, especially when stacked up with an APE 250V Variable Moment Vibro!
*Special thanks to Mike Brenner Jr. of American Civil Constructors for putting the 250V into action on the West Coast in California!
Thanks Mike!
Steve Cress

Cianbro Upgrades Their Vibratory Hammer Fleet In More Ways Than One

Cianbro is a large self performing general contractor based in Pittsfield, Maine who this year decided to start replacing their aging fleet of competitor made vibratory hammers. After studying all of the options available from the different manufacturers, Cianbro decided that they would be best served to not go with the least expensive option but rather with the option that gave them the best possible value. They decided to purchase an APE Model 150T vibro with a Model 350 Power Unit as well as a Model 200 Vibro with a Model 475 Power Unit. Pictured is their Model 200 driving h-piles.

No Pictures Allowed!

Boy, talk about a touchy subject!
In last months article, “If you cant beat ’em, join ’em”, seems some feathers got ruffled. Well, keep reading, more “ruffling” to come!
The competition has now placed orders for three more A.P.E. 150-T’s for their rental fleet. Another competitor has ordered some 28-35’s and some 44’s for their rental fleet. All of these hammers will eventually end up in Florida.
It should be clear by now that American Piledriving Equipment has proven the statement: we build some of the best piledriving equipment in the world. We know it, our competition knows it, and now, these guys are helping us prove it!
So, as I said before, no matter if your rental hammer is out of Virgina, Kansas, Florida, or anywhere in between, look behind the logos, look beneath, the paint, chances are good that you will find an A.P.E Vibro ready to go to work!
American Piledriving Equipment…we build some of the finest Piledriving Equipment in the world…just ask the competition!

The APE 170 VM Variable Moment Vibro in New York City

When Schiavone/Picone JV needed to drive flat sheet pile literally on a NYC sidewalk, they knew they needed a vibro capable of imparting minimal lateral vibrations to the surrounding structures. APE Northeast provided the APE 170VM Variable Moment Vibro for their Vent Plant Rehab project on 30th St. and 6th Ave. At 2200 inch/pounds, the 170VM was the right size machine for the job.

Along with the 170VM, the APE line of variable moment vibros includes the 120VM rated at 1600 inch/pounds, and the 250VM rated at 4500 inch/pounds. The 250VM is the most powerful variable moment vibro made.

Call APE for all of your pile driving equipment needs. We have the right hammers for any application to get the job done. For more information call Paul Kuzik at 201-400-8356.

American Bridge Goes APE

American Bridge Construction / East Coast Division has just begun construction on the new “Chincoteague” bridge on the beautiful island of Chincoteague Virginia. This new crossing will replace the old current causeway & drawbridge that have seen better days. The new bridge will span aprox. 4035 feet across the Black Narrows & Lewis Creek Channel. There will also be a 729′ bridge that will connect the new bridge to Marsh Island. They have begun installing their temp. work trestle on the island side with an APE D-46 diesel impact hammer. We all wish American Bridge a safe & productive project. Watch out for the horses!

If you can’t beat ’em…join ’em!

American Piledriving Equipment has long stated that our Equipment is among the best in the world. We truly believe this and now it looks as though the competition believes it as well.
These pictures have two things in common: first, you will see equipment manufactured by American Piledriving Equipment. Second, none of it is owned by A.P.E. rather it is owned by competitors and in their rental fleets readily available throughout the Southeast.
So when your next Hammer shows up at your jobsite, no matter if you ordered it out of St. Louis, Mo., Kansas City, KS., Orlando, FL., or anywhere in between, look beneath the paint, look behind the logo and you may very well find beats the heart of an A.P.E.!

We work when you work!

We all know that delays can cost a contractor dearly. No matter what the delay, making up lost time is difficult at best. Longer hours and short cuts, often lead to even more, sometimes severe delays.
So when an A.P.E. customer needed to work through the 4th of July, American Piledriving Equipment was there to lend a hand. Many contractors will take the 5th and 6th off as well, but not everyone. Some guys will be hard at it driving pile…American Piledriving Equipment will be right there with them doing our part to help the job finish on time!
At A.P.E., we work when you work!

James Construction Group Goes APE!

Project estimator Bruce Duhon supplied these pictures of the London Ave. Canal Floodwall Breach Repair at Robert E. Lee Avenue which consisted of driving 480 each of a HP14x73 with lengths up to 115′ and batters as severe as 2:1 with the popular Ape model 7.5 hydraulic impact hammer. Piledriving superintendent Johnny Terral says “of all the hammers that he has used in his career the Ape model 7.5 is the sweetest one that he has ever used”.

APAC GOES APE

While driving 130-ft long 30″ diameter steel pipe piles on the West Bay Bridge project near Panama City, Fl., APAC Heavy Division was experiencing much downtime and unreliable performance with a direct drive diesel hammer supplied by one of APE’s competitors.

APAC Equipment Manager, Bradley Briscoe called APE Florida.

A flawlessly prepared APE D-62 diesel pile hammer with an offshore lead set-up was shipped to the jobsite in the Florida panhandle from the APE yard in
Winter Haven, Fl. The APE D-62 not only decreased the driving time per individual pile, but, after driving hundreds of piles, the hammer has had no downtime.
“It starts easily and drives all day” stated Briscoe. These sentiments are echoed by the pile crew which is very happy with the increased production that they are getting.

Once again, an APE diesel hammer proves to be the right tool for a large, high-production project.

Russia

The Russians once again go Variable Moment. After great success in their 1st delivery of APE’s high tech Model 170 VM a second was shipped to the frozen land of Russia. More order’s are in the works. The 170vm works very well driving through permafrost and still keeps start and stop vibrations to almost nothing.
